In my work, I refer to the inability of a red rectangle to be abstract, a Suprematist image and/or apolitical. Above all, this is personal but also perhaps a generational sensitivity, a perception based on experience that a red rectangle resembles the red Soviet flag. Furthermore, once the red rectangle has been touched by a gush of wind, all ambiguity vanishes: the red flag is associated with the idea of communism, the Soviet rule and the occupation. I hope that the visual intensity and attractiveness of red glass makes it possible to gain some of its Suprematist nature back to the red rectangle.

/Suprematism is an art movement focusing on basic geometric forms… The term Suprematism refers to abstract art, based on the “supremacy of pure artistic feeling”, rather than on visual depiction of objects./
